This May at the ISBER annual meeting, the team lead by Cristina Villena from the Pulmonary Biobank Platform (PBP) in Son Espases Hospital, Spain presented a poster about enhancing productivity in biobanking operations. The Bluechiip Sample Management System (under the “MEMS” technology denomination) showed a significant increase in productivity over traditional 1D labels and 2D barcoded vials with other LIMS systems.

Compared to their previous poster publication at ISBER European meeting, this presentation adds the entire “storage” , “shipment” (retrieval) workflows and compares them with their current and old LIMS system.
- 50% time reduction when using Stream and Bluechiip enabled tubes vs their old LIMS system and 1D barcode labeled vials
- 25% time reduction when using Stream and Bluechiip enabled tubes vs their current LIMS and 2D barcoded vials
It’s remarkable to see how much STREAM 5.2 (Bluechiip’s Sample Management software) contributes to reduce the times. It’s not only about the fast ID reading but also the ease of use of the whole system (batch sample registration, guided storage and guided retrieval).
